Delegation to Use Civilian Aircraft for Defense Talks

Defense Minister Kim Jang-soo will lead a 30-member delegation to Pyongyang on Tuesday for the second inter-Korean defense ministers’ talks.

The Defense Ministry said Friday the two sides reached agreement during working-level talks this week on arrangements for next week's meeting. They agreed on the venue, transportation methods and routes as well as the size of the delegations.

The two sides agreed that the South Korean delegation will use a civilian flight for the trip after Pyongyang rejected Seoul’s offer to use a C-130 military transport plane.

The talks will reportedly be held at Songjonggak on the banks of the Daedong River.

The ministry added that the two defense chiefs will focus on the proposed joint fishing area and ways to establish a broader peace zone, as well as confidence-building measures to promote economic cooperation.
