Inter-Korean Defense Talks Open in Pyongyang

The two Koreas will open the second round of defense talks Tuesday in Pyongyang for three days.

South Korean defense minister Kim Jang-soo will head to Pyongyang Tuesday morning on board a commercial airliner.

The two sides will open their first session in the afternoon to discuss creating a peace zone and a joint-fishing area in the West Sea. They will also confer on security guarantee measures necessary for inter-Korean economic cooperation operations.

Kim said in a news briefing a day ahead of the talks that he will aggressively push to win over Seoul’s proposals and added that he knows what the people of the South may be concerned about.
