The provisional government building of the early Korean Empire located in Hangzhou, China reopened Friday.

A hundred Korean and Chinese officials attended the opening ceremony for the renovated building including chiefs of various memorial foundations.

The Hangzhou municipal government rebuilt the two-story wood and brick building with Beijing's approval. Both floors have been turned into exhibition halls.

The Korean provisional government in Shanghai moved to Hangzhou in May 1932. It had been under persecution by Japan after freedom fighter Yoon Bong-bil's failed attempt to kill the Japanese emperor. It stayed there until late 1935.
