Schools to adopt five-day workweek next March

The government may shorten the school week from the current six to five days beginning next March.
Officials at the Education and Human Resources Development said the change is designed to match the school week with the five-day workweek system at government agencies scheduled to begin in January.
But officials said the five-day school week will be introduced gradually ... implementing it every other week or once a month in the initial stage.
A Tripartite Commission on labor affairs is trying to reach a compromise among the government, management and union to introduce a five-day workweek but has yet to bridge the gap in opinions between employers and employees.
