The two Koreas will hold working-level military talks Wednesday to discuss safety guarantees for cross-border freight train service.

The meeting to be held in the truce village of Panmunjeom will be the first follow-up talks since the two countries' prime ministers met in mid-November and agreed to the train runs.

The Defense Ministry says that once the two sides seal an accord on military guarantees, cargo service will begin on the Gyeongui railway from next Tuesday as agreed. Trains would thus link South Korea's Munsan and North Korea's Bongdong, the gateway to the Gaesong Industrial Complex.

The train will leave the South at nine a.m. daily and return at two p.m.

Wednesday's talks will also cover an accord on transit, communications and customs for an area jointly managed by the two Koreas.
