The government has completed the provision of 400-thousand tons of rice aid to North Korea with a final installment sent Wednesday from the southern port city of Busan.

The 74-hundred-ton shipment bound for the North Korean port of Cheongjin completes a five-month-long aid program that began June 30th with a donation of three-thousand tons. The aid was sent to the North in line with an inter-Korean agreement reached in April.

South Korean officials and experts also visited 20 sites in the North to see how the rice aid was being distributed.
