Prime Minister Han Duck-soo will make a one-day trip on Wednesday to the Gaesong Industrial Park in North Korea.

The prime minister’s office said Tuesday that Han will visit the industrial park to encourage employees of South Korean manufacturers operating there.

Han and his entourage of some 20 officials will also visit central Gaesong to tour the city's major attractions, including a museum and a railway station.

The government leader's North Korean trip is seen as part of Seoul's efforts to follow up on the economic cooperation projects agreed upon at October's inter-Korean summit.

The trip is also considered a return visit after his North Korean counterpart Kim Yong-il visited Seoul last month.
