Scuffle in S-N Military Talks

South and North Korean officers reportedly engaged in a tussle during general-level military talks held Thursday at the truce village of Panmunjeom.

The clash began in the morning as the two sides started their second day of talks, when a North Korean Navy official showed a slide to reporters of his side's proposal for a joint fishing zone.

A South Korean naval officer rushed over to stop the presentation, triggering a minor scuffle.

South Korean delegates had asked their counterparts not to brief the reporters, calling the move a violation of their agreement to keep details of their meetings closed.

The plenary session started 30 minutes late but without further clashes.

North Korean delegates have often called for opening all sessions to the media, while South Korean officials have resisted, apparently out of concern they could be used for propaganda.
