U.S. beefs up Air Force in S. Korea after attacks

The U.S. Air Force has beefed up its military presence in South Korea. A South Korean Defense Ministry official said the measure is designed to fill a vacuum brought on by the relocation of a U.S. aircraft carrier normally assigned to the west Pacific to join retaliatory attacks on Afghanistan.
The official said squadron-force reinforcements from the U.S. mainland have been deployed at an air base in the central part of the nation. But he did not identify the air base nor the type and number of aircraft ... citing security reasons.
In a past similar case, the United States had sent two AC-1-30 attack aircraft and 18 F-15 fighters to South Korea.
Earlier this month, South Korea and the United States agreed on the emergency deployment to minimize a strategic vacuum caused by the relocation of the aircraft carrier.
