Seoul City has cancelled a fireworks festival planned for this month in another fallout from the September eleventh terrorist attacks and the U.S. airstrikes on Afghanistan.
A city official said the city government decided to scrap this year's festival firework displays to avoid jarring a public bombarded with news of terrorist attacks and bombing campaigns. He added that arranging fireworks displays involving explosives and one million expected spectators ... is untimely.
Seoul City had planned to hold the festival on three Saturdays this month at the Han River Park in Yoido.
Seoul city held the first festival featuring fireworks teams from Korea, Japan, China and the United States last October hoping to make it one of the city's major tourist attractions.
