Two Koreas, China to Discuss Nukes in P'yang

The two Koreas and China will hold talks in Pyongyang on the nuclear issue amid a snag in the six-party talks over the declaration of North Korea's nuclear programs.

Envoys from the three countries will discuss details on providing Pyongyang with energy aid worth 500-thousand tons of heavy fuel oil. Provision of the aid package is in return for North Korea's declaring and disabling its nuclear programs.

The trilateral gathering will be the first-ever meeting to take place in Pyongyang under the six-party process.

A South Korean Foreign Ministry official said the three sides will follow up on the six-party energy working group meeting held December 12th in Beijing.

Ministry official Lim Sung-nam, who heads the planning bureau in charge of handling the North Korean issue, will lead Seoul's delegation.
