Koreas to Jointly Survey Haeju Next Month

The two Koreas will conduct a joint construction survey on January 31st in the North Korean port of Haeju.

The survey is for the construction of a special economic zone and development of the port city.

Both sides by the year's first half will finalize a detailed business plan in connection with the Gaesong Industrial Complex, also in North Korea.

To that end, working-level talks will open in Gaesong next month on the survey's format, delegation size and travel route.

The agreements came Saturday during the first meeting of the inter-Korean committee on establishing a special economic zone around the Yellow Sea. Seoul was led by presidential security aide Baek Jong-chun and Pyongyang by its homeland and environment chief Pak Song-nam.
