Latest UNESCO Heritage Map Marks Jeju Site

A UNESCO World Heritage map that includes a natural heritage site on South Korea's Jeju Island has been published for the first time.

The World Heritage Center of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization distributes electronically a map every January that includes the latest heritage additions.

The file can be downloaded from the center's Web site (http://www.whc.unesco.org) from Thursday.

The Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes were the first natural sites in Korea to be registered on the UNESCO list last June.

The heritage map, used for study purposes worldwide, is downloaded several million times a year.

The Jeju Autonomous Province has also posted a downloadable version of the map on its Web site (http://jejuwnh.jeju.go.kr).
