Amid the spreading anthrax anxiety, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has staged an anti-biochemical terrorism exercise in central Seoul.
Police commando units and anti-terrorist squads, as well as emergency services workers, participated in the drill. The exercise included a decontamination demonstration, human rescue operations and detection and demolition of explosives in high-rise buildings.
Meanwhile, police said they received a total of 54 reports on suspected terrorism including bomb and anthrax alerts, but all of them proved to be false alarms.
Police warned of a stern action against those making hoax reports.
