The blueprint on the broadcasting and communications commission that will launch under the new government was unveiled Monday.
Under the bill on its establishment and operation, the commission will be directly under the presidential office as a representative body with five standing members.
The president will appoint two members, while the other three will be recommended by the National Assembly speaker after discussions with parliamentary negotiating blocs. The president will then make nominations from among the candidates.
A broadcasting and communications deliberating commission will also be installed as an independent body. It will merge the functions of the existing Korean Broadcasting Commission and the Internet Safety Commission.
The president will appoint three of the nine commission members. The assembly speaker and parliamentary standing committees will recommend three candidates each for the president to nominate.
