Officials at the ministry said Science and Technology Vice Minister Yu Hee-yol Saturday started a nine-day trip taking him to Vietnam and China.
Yu plans to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation on scientific technology and atomic energy with the two countries.
The vice minister will have a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart to exchange views on scientific technology and related business the two sides intend to pursue.
