Two Koreas Hold Military Talks

Military officials from the two Koreas met Friday to discuss implementation of agreements reached at inter-Korean defense chiefs' talks last year, including a deal on cross-border railway transports.

During the meeting at the truce village of Panmunjeom, the two sides shared implementation proposals and agreed to discuss them after further review.

A South Korean Defense Ministry official said Seoul proposed to hold frequent talks for smooth implementation of the agreements, but Pyongyang did not respond.

Since inter-Korean defense ministerial talks last November, the two Koreas have held general- and working-level talks to ensure military safety guarantees for cross-border railway freight service. But they have yet to agree on the issue of a proposed joint fishing zone in the West Sea.
