The ministry said Tuesday the Ministry of Information and Communication plans to launch a committee of civil experts in November charged with helping to settle domain name-related disputes.
The committee, to be comprised of experts from the Korea Federal Bar Association and the Korea Patent Attorneys Association, will engage in the settlement of disputes over the use of .kr domain names before legal action begins.
The committee also plans to trim the ineffective use of Internet resources by controlling "cybersquatters," who register well-known company names and demand the legal owners of the trademarks buy the domains at inflated prices.
