Top Chinese Official Visits Gaesong Complex

A senior Chinese official visited the Gaesong Industrial Complex in North Korea and the truce village of Panmunjeom on Thursday.

The Gaesong Industrial District Management Committee said Wang Jiarui, who oversees the international department of China's Communist Party, toured two plants at the industrial park.

The committee added that Wang told officials there he believes the industrial complex's future looks very bright, declaring that it will greatly contribute to boosting the inter-Korean economy and establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The Chinese official added that Beijing will also make efforts for the development of the Gaesong complex.

According to the North’s state-run Korean Central TV, Wang and his delegation later visited Panmunjeom and wrote in the inter-Korean truce village's guest book.
