Separated Families to Exchange Video Letters

South and North Korean families will exchange video letters on Tuesday.

The National Red Cross said the exchange is in line with an agreement reached at the ninth inter-Korean Red Cross meeting on November 28th last year.

According to the agreement, the two Koreas will exchange video letters between 20 separated families from each side early this year on a trial basis. If the trial is successful, exchanges could be expanded to include 30 families every quarter.

A South Korean Red Cross official said the trial exchange will be carried out at the truce village of Panmunjeom at the request of the North.

The government decided in early December to spend 317 million won, or 336,000 dollars, to help North Korea with the production of video letters and provide related equipment.
