Separated families from South and North Korea exchanged video letters on Tuesday, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

The trial exchange between 20 families from each side was held during a meeting of liaison officers at the truce village of Panmunjeom.

The Unification Ministry promised to deliver the letters to South Korean separated families as soon as possible after confirming their addresses.

The National Red Cross said the exchange is in line with an agreement reached at the ninth inter-Korean Red Cross talks last November 28th.

The two Koreas plan to exchange video letters between 30 families from each side every quarter starting this year.
