The ruling Millennium Democratic Party has decided to enact an anti-terrorism law.
The decision came Thursday at a meeting of ruling party and government officials held at the M-D-P headquarters.
They also decided to revise laws on the management of hazardous chemicals.
A ruling party official who attended the meeting said the proposed terrorism prevention law will pave the way for the establishment of a government's anti-terror task force. He said the legislation will also provide the legal basis for countermeasures against and investigations into new kinds of terror attacks.
Currently, there are few, if any, regulations, which allow the government to cope with new forms of terrorism, including biochemical attacks.
The envisaged laws will also put toxic and dangerous materials under special control, and strictly regulate the production, transportation and use of those toxic materials.
The ruling party plans to submit the two bills to the National Assembly for approval by early next month.
