North Korea has made a United Nations list of countries undergoing a food crisis that are likely to require outside aid.

According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), North Korea continues to suffer chronic food shortages due to economic constraints and damage from last year's flooding. In a report posted on the FAO Web site, the U.N. organization predicted the country will have to import more than one million tons of cereal this year.

Citing an FAO official, Radio Free Asia said Pyongyang has imported 50-thousand tons of grain and received 120-thousand tons in aid as of this month.

North Korea is expected to import more than one-point-one million tons of cereal by the end of the harvest season in October.
