Samsung, Mitsubishi unify RAM specifications

Samsung Electronics and Japan's Mitsubishi Electric Corporation have agreed to standardize specifications for high-density random access memory chips used in portable devices.
The two companies plans to start supplying ... standardized memory chips with capacity of 32 megabits or more for mobile phones and other mobile devices ... from June two thousand two.
The move comes as demand increases for cheaper, higher density RAMs for next-generation mobile phones in Japan and South Korea that promise to deliver music, video and game content.
