Tourists to be Allowed to Drive to Mt. Geumgang

Tourists will be able to travel to North Korea’s Mount Geumgang by car from this month.

Hyundai Asan, the operator of tour programs to the mountain resort, will begin providing related services from March 17th.

The operator said it made the change after a growing number of tourists complained about having to travel to the resort by chartered bus.

However, those wishing to go to Mount Geumgang in their own cars must observe several rules. In particular, there will only be certain times of day when they can cross the inter-Korean military border and park their vehicles at a designated resort hotel.

The new daily tour program is booked every weekend until May.
