'N.Korea, U.S. to Talk Soon on Nukes'

North Korea and the United States will hold an unofficial meeting in China or a third nation on a compromise on the North’s declaration of its nuclear activities.

Diplomatic sources familiar with the matter said Sunday that the two sides will likely hold a meeting soon.

China has proposed a compromise plan based on the 1972 Shanghai Communique, an important document issued by Washington and Beijing during U.S. President Richard Nixon’s visit to China.

The document pledged that it is in the interest of all nations for the United States and China to work toward normalization of their relations.

Pyongyang and Washington are reportedly showing positive responses to the proposal.
