A state-run North Korean newspaper has blasted efforts by South Korea, the United States and Japan to boost cooperation on regional security studies, calling the efforts a military alliance against the North.
The Minju Joson reported that the three countries' top institutes for defense research had agreed to share data through a working committee and conduct joint training from June.
Last month, the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses, the U.S. Institute for Defense Analyses and Japan's National Institute for Defense Studies held their fourth security workshop to discuss disaster preparedness across national borders.
Another North Korean daily, the Rodong Sinmun, also criticized defense cooperation among the three countries. The official organ of the North Korean ruling party said such cooperation was in blunt defiance of the North's sincere efforts to open a new era of inter-Korean reconciliation and prosperity.
