Koreas to Excavate Martyr's Remains in China

A domestic team will begin digging in China for the remains of Korean freedom fighter An Jung-geun next week.

A Chinese diplomatic source says the South Korean Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs will send a 30-member team of technicians and officials next Monday.

The source said North Korea will also participate in the excavation in Lushun, a port city in eastern China.

An official at the South Korean Consulate General in Shenyang says as soon as it receives notice from Seoul, it will begin preparations.

The site in question was damaged during recent ground leveling for apartment construction, which raised controversy.
