Unification Minister Kim Ha-joong says the government's inter-Korea policy will focus on reuniting separated families.
Kim on Thursday made the remarks at a luncheon with South Korea’s National Red Cross President Lee Se-ung.
At the meeting, Lee pointed out that three- to four-thousand people separated from their families are dying every year of old age, urging the government to facilitate more frequent reunions.
The minister said the government will seek to make reunions possible at any time after a family reunion center opens in August at Mount Geumgang, the North Korean mountain resort. But no related inter-Korean negotiations have taken place since last month's video reunions.
At the ninth inter-Korean Red Cross talks last December, the two Koreas agreed to allow reunions for about 400 separated family members every year.
