NK: US Persistence Could Affect Disablement

North Korea has warned the U.S. not to press it on the nuclear declaration issue, saying that it could affect the disablement of its nuclear facilities.

In a statement issued Friday, the North Korean Foreign Ministry said if Washington continues to prolong the nuclear standoff with its fabrications, it could seriously affect the disablement process.

Pyongyang said implementation of a six-party agreement reached last October is becoming deadlocked because the U.S. government's attitude is growing more and more disappointing as talks continue.

North Korea declared it would never be a "scapegoat" to justify the Bush administration's erroneous claims.

The statement came after South Korea and the U.S. again urged the North on Thursday to declare its nuclear activities at the earliest possible date.

South Korean Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan is currently in Washington for talks with senior U.S. officials.
