President Kim Dae-jung called for close Seoul-Tokyo cooperation to ward off terrorism at next year's co-hosted World Cup finals as he met a Japanese parliamentary representative Thursday.
Kim met former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori, visiting Seoul as Tokyo's chief of the Korea-Japan Parliamentarians' Union, and discussed bilateral ties and the World Cup tourney the two countries will co-host next year.
Presidential spokesman Oh Hong-keun said President Kim emphasized the importance of parliamentary dialogue between the two countries and asked that the union assume an active role to resolve issues that may arise between the governments.
Kim also stressed anti-terrorism measures ahead of the World Cup and urged close bilateral cooperation.
