Japan Cancels Opening of Controversial Film

Japan has canceled the showing of a movie about a controversial Tokyo shrine just several days ahead of the planned opening.

The film, made by a Chinese director, also had to go through a censorship-like premiere at the demand of Japan's right-wing politicians who wanted to see if the movie contained any anti-Japan sentiment.

The production company of the film claimed that there was no freedom of speech and expression on Japanese soil, expressing regret over what it sees as the country's growing rightist tendency.
