Organizing committee officials said Thursday the Sixth Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) will open Friday for a nine-day session in the southeastern port city of Pusan.
The PIFF has consistently contributed to energizing the Asian film industry through the creation of the pre-market Pusan Promotion Plan (PPP) in addition to Industry Screening that is becoming a pathway to the global market for Korean and other Asian
films.
This year's PIFF will again strengthen the productive aspects of the festival and establish itself as a center for the Asian film industry.
With the motto "2001: A Cinema Odyssey," this year's festival focuses on the latest works by "Korean New Wave" directors which have garnered international acclaim in recent years.
In addition to the seven official sections, diversified special programs will take place, including "New Challenges of Thai Films," which looks at Thai films currently in the global spotlight.
