Over 400 Korean expatriates doing business in 27 countries gathered in Los Angeles Friday for a three-day conference to prompt formation of a global trade network.
Officials said in the sixth conference of its kind, the overseas Koreans will talk about networking Korean communities and Korean commercial districts all over the world to promote Korea's exports and expand their own businesses.
The conference brought together more than 400 business people from 43 cities and was arranged by the World-Overseas Koreans Trade Association (World-OKTA), the Overseas Koreans Foundation (OKF), and South Korea's Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).
Commerce Minister Chang Che-shik said in a message to the conference participants that if overseas Koreans form a Korean network with their mother country and explore the export market, they will create an excellent opportunity to reinvigorate our troubled economy.
