North Korea has denounced the United States for allegedly seeking to establish a new invasive military bloc in Northeast Asia.

The Rodong Sinmun, the North's ruling Workers' Party newspaper, also accused the U.S. of trying to enhance South Korea’s defense capabilities through its weapons sales program called Foreign Military Sales (FMS), and asking the South to join its missile defense system.

The paper claimed Wednesday that such moves aggravate tension and increase the risk of war on the Korean Peninsula.

It also urged Washington to drop such moves immediately to maintain peace and security in Northeast Asia.
