NK Rejects Visits by S. Korean Officials

North Korea has rejected visits by working-level South Korean officials after declaring it would not allow any officials from the South to cross the military demarcation line (MDL).

A Seoul official said Friday that Pyongyang expelled Thursday a South Korean official from the construction site of an inter-Korean family reunion center at Mount Geumgang.

The North reportedly also rejected a visit by another South Korean official who was to replace the one who was expelled.

The Seoul official said that earlier this week, North Korea also disallowed a visit by a South Korean supervisor from the South’s Public Procurement Service.

Pyongyang warned it would stop South Korean officials from crossing the MDL after remarks made by the new chairman of the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff.
