North Korea has shown its first reaction to South Korea’s recent general elections, which saw the ruling party take a parliamentary majority on April ninth.
The Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the North Korean Workers' Party, carried a commentary which said the South's National Assembly has fallen into servitude under the Lee Myung-bak administration.
The commentary warned the assembly would draw criticism by the Korean people if it departs from the two Koreas' mutual interest and the will of the people.
The daily also denounced Seoul for its "anti-North Korea policy," charging the South Korean government with unwisely using the election results to justify a confrontational approach.
Noting the record-low voter turnout in the elections, the daily claimed the results did not properly reflect the popular will.
