Airline officials said Tuesday U.S.-bound Korean flights resumed normal operations as John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York reopened after a temporary shut down following a plane crash.
Korean Air (KAL) said its KE081 flight with 275 people on board arrived at Kennedy Airport around 7:30 a.m. Korean time.
The flight, which departed Incheon International Airport Monday morning, had to change its route and land in Toronto, Canada, after an American Airlines jetliner on its way to the Dominican Republic with 255 people aboard crashed moments after takeoff from Kennedy Airport.
KAL and the other national-flag carrier, Asiana Airlines, said all their flights bound for the United States will operate on schedule.
However, long delays seem inevitable for Korea-bound flights from New York as takeoffs are forbidden from JFK.
Meanwhile, police reinforced guards and security checks at the Incheon airport after the U.S. plane crash.
