Capping six days of intense bargaining ... delegates at the World Trade Organization conference have agreed on starting a new round of negotiations to further lower barriers to trade.
The breakthrough came at the W-T-O conference held in Doha, Qatar Wednesday.
The deal struck by trade ministers from one hundred-42 W-T-O member nations calls for starting talks next year to reduce tariffs on goods and services. The years-long process will also focus on opening markets and setting trade rules for rich and poor countries alike.
The agreement follows the W-T-O's failed attempt in Seattle two years ago amid riots and tear gas.
