WT: White House Renegotiates NK Nuke Deal

A U.S. paper says the United States is renegotiating a tentative deal with North Korea regarding the North's declaration of nuclear activities to provide for better verification provisions.

The Washington Times reported that the U.S. government faced opposition from some Congressmen on the deal. In a letter to U.S. President George W. Bush, 14 Republican senators expressed concern that Washington’s course of action on the North’s nuclear issue may give wrong messages to other “rogue regimes”.

The daily added that, therefore, U.S. State Secretary Condoleezza Rice should address their concerns. She will take action to revise the details of the deal reached in the April seventh Singapore talks between U.S. top nuclear envoy Christopher Hill and his North Korean counterpart Kim Kye-kwan.
