S. Korea to spend 2.2 trillion won on IT personnel training

South Korea plans to spend two point two trillion won over the next four years beginning next year ... to train and produce experts in information and technology sectors. The expenditure amounts to about one pont six billion U.S. dollars.
The plan was reported to President Kim Dae-jung at a meeting of 14 cabinet ministers Friday.
The plan is part of the government's efforts to bring South Korea within top ten in the world in terms of the scientific and technological competitiveness. South Korea currently ranks 28th in the world in the area.
