NK Urges Scrapping of Anti-Communist Law

A North Korean diplomat has urged South Korea to abolish its National Security Law, saying it describes North Koreans as enemies.

Choe Myong-nam, a counsellor at Pyongyang's mission in Geneva, made the statement Wednesday before the U.N. Human Rights Council.

He noted during a review of rights conditions in South Korea that the U.N. body had urged Seoul to scrap its anti-communist law in 1992, 1999 and 2006.
