US Team Arrives With NK Nuke Documents

A U.S. delegation led by State Department official Sung Kim arrived in the nation Saturday, carrying boxes of documents from North Korea.

The five-member team crossed the inter-Korean border at the truce village of Panmunjeom after receiving from Pyongyang officials key documents about their country's plutonium-based nuclear program.

Asked by reporters at the border about the contents of the 18-thousand pages the team was bringing over, Kim said only "We have to take them back to see."

The documents are expected to help the United States and the six-party talks countries verify a nuclear declaration North Korea is expected to submit as early as next week.

They are also expected to revive a six-party dialogue long stalled over North Korea's delayed nuclear declaration.

The U.S. delegation led by Sung Kim will brief Seoul officials Saturday evening on the results of their talks in Pyongyang. They will return to the United States on Monday.
