Gov’t to Install Surveillance Cameras at School

The government will implement several measures to prevent sex crimes at school.

As part of these efforts, it will install surveillance cameras at 70 percent of the nation's elementary, middle and high schools by 2010. Currently, only 12 percent have surveillance cameras.

The government will also give parents free software that automatically cuts off an Internet connection after children have been online for a specific amount of time.

The measure aims to help protect children from the ill effects of the Internet, such as addiction to online games and free access to porn.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology reported the measures to the parliamentary education committee Wednesday, saying they would help create safer school environments.
