North Korean radio reported Tuesday the World Health Organization (WHO) opened a representative office in Pyongyang Monday.
The Chosun Central Broadcasting Station reports monitored in Seoul said there were North Korea's Public Health Minister Kim Su-hak, visiting WHO Director General Gro Harlem Brundtland, foreign diplomats and representatives from international agencies at the opening ceremony.
The broadcaster said the opening of the WHO office in Pyongyang will further develop cooperative relations between the North and the international agency.
The WHO chief visited the North Friday and inspected major medical facilities in Pyongyang before departing for South Korea via Beijing Tuesday.
During his two-day stay in Seoul, Brundtland will meet Foreign Minister Han Seung-soo and officials from the Health and Welfare Ministry to explain the outcome of his visit to North Korea.
