A ceremony to mark the 27th national Teachers' Day was held Thursday in Seoul.

Education Minister Kim Doh-yeon addressed a group of education leaders and parents, congratulating the nation's teachers and thanking them for their hard work. He urged them to continue to nurture hope in students.

Some ten thousand people received commendations for their contributions to education. Among them, 67-hundred were honored with ministerial commendations.

The nation celebrates every May 15th as Teachers' Day.
