Pres. Kim talks with WHO director-general on N.K.

President Kim Dae-jung met with World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Gro Harlem Brundtland Wednesday, who arrived here Tuesday after a visit to North Korea.
According to Presidential Spokesman Oh Hong-keun, president Kim said that the opening of the WHO's representative office in Pyongyang would help the U.N. health agency expand its North Korea-related projects.
Kim also told Brundtland that he expects the WHO to contribute to improving health conditions in the North.
As part of his four-day visit to Pyongyang, Brundtland attended a ceremony on Monday to mark the opening of the WHO office in the North's capital.
Kim told Brundtland that the Seoul government provided the North with anti-Malaria supplies worth $500,000 dollars through the WHO in May and plans to provide $6 million dollars worth of humanitarian aid to Afghan refugees through international agencies.
