NK Agent Behind 1983 Myanmar Bombing Dies

One of three North Korean agents behind a 1983 terrorist bombing in Myanmar has died in prison in the Southeast Asian country.

According to prison officials, Kang Min-cheol died Wednesday after 25 years in prison. He reportedly had been suffering from a liver disease.

Kang was the sole survivor among three North Korean agents convicted of a failed assassination attempt on then-South Korean President Chun Doo-hwan, who was visiting the Southeast Asian nation, then known as Burma.
