Gov't OK Required for Int'l Event Bids

Provincial governments will soon be required to get approval from the central government if they want to bid for international events involving more than five countries and 100 foreigners.

The Strategy and Finance Ministry said Sunday that it will revise regulations to require provincial bodies to get approval from an internantional event review committee before bidding for international events and report changes in preparing for an event they host.

Certain cities in the provinces are under criticism for wasting money in bidding for and hosting international events.
