Controversial Artwork on Display in New York

A controversial artwork linked to the Samsung slush fund scandal is on display at a gallery in New York.

Gagosian Gallery is exhibiting Roy Lichtenstein’s 1964 work “Happy Tears.” Also on display are 16 other works by the artist in an exhibition entitled “Girls” that runs from May 12th to June 28th.

The gallery’s Web site (www.gagosian.com) features a virtual tour of the exhibit that includes “Happy Tears."

Seoul-based Yonhap News contacted the gallery and asked whether the artwork was owned by the Gallery Seomi in South Korea. But an official at the New York gallery declined to answer, citing confidentiality.

The official said, however, the artwork was the original.
